Lphant - Download over 15 million songs & videos
Nowadays, MP3 songs are becoming more and more popular. Every computer user has on his hard drive at least one MP3 song. More over, most multimedia devices and even car players support this format, not to mention the continuous development of MP3 players. But the problem is how to get MP3 songs. You could buy them but, unfortunately, the price for a song is at least 1$, so filling up a MP3 player with songs requires spending a fortune. There's another solution and that's using a music sharing software like Lphant. This is basically a peer-to-peer file-sharing program that uses the eDonkey network and BitTorrent protocol to find songs.
The program is not difficult to install, but the user should pay attention to the type of installation, as the typical one adds a toolbar into the system and if the user doesn't want this, he should choose the manual installation type, thus being able to deactivate the installation of the toolbar.
After running the program for the first time, the user is asked to select the folder for sharing music. If he doesn't want to do this, he can just click the cancel button. The interface is nice-looking and very intuitive as it's based on tabs. The first tab displays the library of songs shared by the user. The second one allows searching for Lphant users, using various criteria, like the age range or the country. The third tab allows searching for music.
Lphant allows searching songs by their artists, genre or by entering the song's name. After entering the desired search string, the program will soon display the results, including the name of the song, the name of the album, the size and the duration of the track. At this point, the user can download the desired song or group of songs. Besides finding MP3 songs, Lphant can also search the YouTube database for music videos, displaying them in a small window. If the user isn't decided about what he wants to listen, Lphant can display the latest songs and can make suggestions according to certain music types. The software also has a built-in CD burner, for creating regular audio CDs out of MP3 songs.
